What woman doesn’t love getting her hair done, eyebrows shaped, lashes enhanced and feet rubbed? We’re all suckers for a little pampering, and last Thursday evening attendees at Precious Metal got just that, along with a rush of power between the legs.
Hosted by Deeley Harley-Davidson Canada, Precious Metal is the annual event organized to raise awareness for Rethink Breast Cancer, an organization dedicated to changing the face of breast cancer amongst young women.
Hopping out of my Uber Towncar at the historic Salt Building all I could hear was the din of Harley’s. Certain sounds have the power to evoke excitement inside me; along with the clickety clack of a skateboard across pavement, the guttural roar of a motorcycle engine awakens a rebellious spirit.
As my eyes adjusted to the dim lights inside the spacious factory of decades past, I took in the cacophony of animated female voices ringing off the walls and concrete floor. With Bombay Brow Bar, Noir Lash Lounge, IS Salon, Toywatch, and Cupcakes in our presence how could one not be as gleeful as a Catholic school girl. Some familiar Vancouver faces milled through the crowd of estrogen, including Fiona Forbes of Urban Rush, Nira Arora of The Beat, Heather White and Lori Joyce of The Cupcake Girls, and Mary Zilba of The Real Housewives of Vancouver.
With a spongy chocolate cupcake in one hand and a glass of bubbles in the other, I watched one woman’s face morph into that of intense pleasure as she received foot reflexology from Gold Medal Health Center. It was such a display of ecstasy that I felt as though I were intruding on a private moment. I immediately signed up to be next in the hopes of reaching the same euphoric state. I wasn’t disappointed as I balanced on a precarious tightrope between pleasure and pain.
The next logical step was to get something between my thighs. Get out of the gutter – I’m referring to a motorcycle.
As I straddled the heated mechanical beast, I could feel its steady purr. With its wheel locked in a vice, I roared and revved the engine to 80km/hr, feeling the wind from the adjacent fan blow through my locks. That’s the moment when infection hit. The instant each woman at Precious Metal fell in love with the power of a hog.
Lessons learned from Precious Metal:
1. There is nothing more empowering than meeting strong and passionate business women excited about what they do for others.
2. Some women have no qualms about sharing all the dirty details of a liaison with perfect strangers. This is sure to draw a crowd of eager ears.
3. The best photoshoots happen while sitting on a motorcycle.
